If you are a worker insured in another European Union Member State and temporarily in Italy for work, it is important to have the DA1 form with you. This document serves as proof of your entitlement to receive healthcare in the event of an accident at work or an occupational disease, under the same conditions as Italian citizens. Form DA1 is issued by the authority responsible for accidents at work and occupational diseases in your country of origin.
The DA1 form must be sent to the Inail (Italian National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work), which will provide the appropriate healthcare and in-kind benefits relating to accidents at work and occupational diseases. The Inail will then request the reimbursement of the expenses incurred from the competent foreign authority.
It is not mandatory to have this form but it is recommended, as it allows the investigation phase to proceed more quickly in the event of an accident at work or an occupational illness.
