The Author focuses her analysis - the mandatory healthcare treatments - on thewidest framework of the protection of the right to health provided for in theItalian legal system in the light of article 32 of the Constitution. Starting fromthe recalling of said general framework, she analyses the subject of mandatoryhealthcare treatments, tracing back the phases of evolution of the relevantregulatory system and then devotes particular attention to the mandatory treatmentsfor mental illnesses. As regards this final topic, after describing theItalian laws in this connection, with particular reference to the “Basagliareform”, the Author completes her analysis with a brief reference to the mostsignificant legislations of other European countries.
