La salute ed il lavoro costituiscono un binomio spontaneo ed antico, oggetto di attenzione ed interesse da sempre, connaturato alle vicende del genere umano. Le svariate manifestazioni della medicina, del diritto, della espressione artistica certificano la costante centralità per gli esseri umani della salute e del lavoro. In Europa tra il XVIII e XIX gli eventi sintetizzati nella definizione di Rivoluzione industriale hanno determinato la faticosa formazione sistematica della legislazione sociale, compresa la tutela e prevenzione dei danni alla salute provocati dal lavoro. L’importanza di tale evento non toglie rilievo alle vicende che lo hanno preceduto, essendo la salute ed il lavoro una questione prioritariamente umana connessa agli uomini ed alle donne più che alle contingenze della storia. Si è voluto indagare in tempi precedenti alla rivoluzione industriale e risalire sino ai fatti biblici per dimostrare che salute, lavoro e sicurezza appartengono alla vicenda umana prima ancora che alle altrettante umane dinamiche dei rapporti tra gli uomini. Dal codice di Hammurabi alla bibbia, dalla sapienza giuridica romana all’imperatore bizantino Giustiniano, dalle legislazioni barbariche alla esperienza della repubblica di Venezia, dalle città comunali italiane alle legislazioni, in epoca moderna, degli Stati nazionali francese ed inglese, il lavoro ed il danno alla salute hanno trovato spazio e collocazione. Si deve a Bernardino Ramazzini, medico e docente universitario, nel corso del diciottesimo secolo, la prima sistemazione scientifica dell’antica vicenda salute e lavoro. Il lavoro ramazziniano di incredibile attualità per metodologia e pluralità disciplinare, costituisce la base iniziale indispensabile per chiunque voglia tuttora conoscere, trattare e sviluppare il fenomeno del superamento dei rischi a carico della salute derivanti dal lavoro.

The health and the job constitute a spontaneous and ancient binomial, object of attention and interest from always, deeply rooted to the vicissitudes of the mankind. The varied manifestations of the medicine, the right, the artistic expression certify to the constant centrality for the human beings about the health and the job. In Europe between the XVIII and the XIX century the events summarized in the definition of the industrial revolution have determined the laborious systematic formation of the social legislation, included the protection and the prevention of the damages to the health caused by the job. The importance of such event does not remove relief to the vicissitudes that have preceded it, being the health and the job one human issue priority connected to the men and the women more than to the contingencies of the history. It is intentional to inquire in times previous to the industrial revolution and to go back until to Biblical vicissitudes in order demonstrating that health, job and safety belong before to the human vicissitude still that to as many human dynamics of the relationships between human beings. From the code of Hammurabi to the Bible, from the Roman legal wisdom to Byzantine Emperor Justinian, from the barbaric legislation to the experience of the Republic of Venice, from the Italian communal cities to the legislations, in modern age, of the national States French and English, the job and the damage to the health they have found space and position. It must to Bernardino Ramazzini, doctor and university teacher, in the course of the XVIII century, the first scientific placing of the ancient issue health and job. Ramazzini’s work of the incredible present time for methodology and disciplinary variety, constitutes the starting basis that is indispensable for anyone wants to know, to treat and to develop the phenomenon of the overcoming of the risks to cargo of the health deriving from the job.
