Una premessa è d’obbligo: insieme alla fondamentale legge 31 dicembre 1996, n. 675, recante tutela rispetto al trattamento dei dati personali, il parlamento aveva approvata la legge n. 676, recante duplice delega al governo per l’emanazione di disposizioni correttive ed integrative che si rendessero necessarie. La relazione esamina nelle grandi linee i contenuti dei due primi decreti delegati (il n. 123 del 9 maggio 1997 e il n. 255 del 28 luglio 1997) emanati ad integrazione e correzione della legge n. 675. d’altra parte, trattandosi di deleghe non ancora esaurite, la relazione si preoccupa di segnalare alcuni inconvenienti cui sarebbe stato possibile porre rimedio con altri decreti delegati. Soprattutto delicato è il capitolo concernente la tutela dell’attività giornalistica, bisognoso di una migliore calibratura, anche a causa della non sempre felice terminologia usata e della necessità di recepire entro il 24 ottobre 1998 una specifica direttiva del parlamento europeo, datata 24 ottobre 1995.

Some introductory remarks are de rigeur: together with the fondamental act n. 675, 31 december 1996, providing protection in respect of the treatment of private data, the parliament had approved the law n. 676, providing a double authorization to the government for issuing of corrective and integrative provisions which could become necessary. The report gives an outline of the contents of the two first delegated decrees (n. 123 of 9 may 1997 and n. 255 of 28 july 1997), issued to integrete and correct the law n. 675. on the other hand, as it concerns delegation acts which are not yet other hand, as it concerns delegation acts which are not yet run out, the report brings to attention some problems which would have been possible to remedy with some other delegated decrees. Especially delicate the chapter concerning the protection of the journalistic activities, which need a better calibration, also because of the not always fortunate terminology in use and of the necessity to assimilate by the 24 october 1998 a specific directive of the european parliament, dated 24 october 1995.
