Il presente articolo, scavando nella memoria e nelle letture dell’autore, trovaalcune tracce di quell’attività umana che viene chiamata “lavoro”, sospese trala mitologia e la letteratura, graffiate dalle righe della scrittura sulla pagina universaledella Storia.Così, si va dalle prime parole probabilmente mai scritte, all’alba della storiad’Occidente, dedicate alla necessità del lavoro, da ESIODO: Le opere ed i giorni,circa 2600 anni fa, alla figura mitologica di Prometeo, che fece dono agliUomini, rubandolo agli dei, del fuoco, da cui scaturisce la tecnica, forgia diogni bene materiale, passando attraverso le narrazioni di scrittori e filosofi,greci e latini, giungendo, alla fine di un viaggio virtuale che arriva fino ai giornid’oggi, alla radice delle domande fondamentali che da sempre l’Uomo sipone.Ciò che è sorprendente è trovare la medesima modernità, lo stesso senso dellenecessità della vita, lungo tutto il percorso del tempo, almeno di quello misurabileattraverso le pagine degli scrittori.

This article, through the memory and the readings of the author, finds sometraces of the human activity called “labour” floating between mythology andliterature and, taken from the lines of the universal page of History.In this way, we shift from the first words ever written, to the dawn of Westernhistory, devoted to the NEED TO WORK by Hesiodus; “The works and days”nearly 2600 years ago, and the mythological figure of Prometeus that stole firefrom the Gods and gave it to men: it is at the basis of technique, the forge ofany tangible asset, passing through the writings of Greek and Latin writers andphilosophers, and finally reaching, at the end of a virtual trip that arrives to ourpresent days, the roots of fundamental questions always asked by Men.What surprises most is to find the same modernity, the same sense of needs oflife, along the whole path of time, or at least the one measurable through thepages of writers.
