Gli Autori hanno preso in esame gli eventi infortunistici in campo agricolo del quinquennio 1996-2000 relativamente all¿utilizzo di macchine agricole. L¿ esame ha confermato il trend degli addetti in tale settore con una diminuzione di circa il 13% dei soggetti assicurati che, peraltro, non rende conto dell¿effettiva diminuzione o meno di soggetti che utilizzano ¿macchine agricole¿. A fronte, comunque, di tale riduzione vi è stato un sensibile decremento degli infortuni ben al di là di quanto ci si poteva aspettare. Infatti gli infortuni con macchine agricole, nel quinquennio preso in esame, sono diminuiti del 37%, con un valore che risulta sicuramente significativo al di fuori del fatto che vi sia stata o meno una reale diminuzione di coloro che ¿utilizzavano¿ macchine agricole. Non si hanno elementi certi per poter stabilire se il fenomeno sia dovuto all¿entrata in vigore delle nuove normative in ambito prevenzionale (D.Lgs. n. 626/1994, D.P.R. 459/1996).

The Authors have considered occupational accidents in the agricultural sector related to the use of agricultural machinery for the five year period 1996-2000. The study has confirmed sector trends, showing a decrease by 13% approximately in the number of insured workers, which, however, does not account for the actual decrease, if any, in the number of people actually operating ¿agricultural machinery¿. At any rate, in conjunction with this decrease, there was a significant reduction in the number of accidents far exceeding expectations. Indeed, for the period under consideration, accidents due to the use of agricultural machinery have shown a 37% decrease, a significant value regardless of the fact that there may or may not have been a real reduction in the number of agricultural machinery ¿users¿. No conclusive evidence exists establishing whether this phenomenon may be ascribed to the entry into force of the new regulations in the social security sector (Legislative Decree no. 626/1994, Presidential Decree 459/1996).
