Il ReNaM (Registro Nazionale dei Mesoteliomi) è un Sistema di Sorveglianzadei Mesoteliomi Maligni, istituito presso l’ISPESL dal febbraio 2003, che vienealimentato dalle segnalazioni dei COR (Centri Operativi Regionali) presenti oggi che funge anche da COR per la segnalazione dei casi al RENAM. Con il CORdella Toscana l’INAIL mantiene da diverso tempo rapporti informali di scambiodati, finalizzati a una più ampia conoscenza sia dell’incidenza dei casi che degliaspetti assicurativi. Nel presente studio, dopo aver presentato i dati INAIL relativiai casi denunciati all’Istituto nel periodo fra il 1994 e l’aprile 2008, abbiamooperato un confronto nominativo con i casi forniti dal COR e relativi al periodo2002-2006. Abbiamo così potuto osservare, almeno nei dati grezzi, la incompletezzasia delle informazioni INAIL sia, seppur in parte, di quelle dell’ARTMM(Archivio Regionale Toscano dei Mesoteliomi Maligni). Si deduce che una maggiorecollaborazione fra i due Istituti, che presentano diverse finalità ma ugualiinteressi sociali, potrebbe garantire una conoscibilità e una tutela più completa diqueste gravi tecnopatie.

The ReNaM (National Mesothelioma Register) is a system for controlling malignantmesothelioma, established at ISPESL (National Institute for OccupationalSafety and Prevention) in February 2003 and kept up to date by information fromthe CORs (Regional Operational Centres) now present throughout most of Italy.The mesothelioma register has been present in Tuscany since 1988, and it alsoacts as the COR to notify RENAM of cases. INAIL (National Institute forInsurance against Accidents at Work) has had an informal relationship with theTuscany COR for some time now, through which information is exchanged togain greater awareness of both the incidence of cases and the insurance aspects.After having presented the INAIL data regarding the cases known at the Institutebetween 1994 and April 2008, this study compared this data with the cases providedby COR for the period 2002-2006 on a names basis. We were thus able toestablish, at least from the raw data, how incomplete both the INAIL data and theARTMM (Tuscany Region Archive on Malignant Mesothelioma) data was (eventhough the ARTMM was incomplete only in part). We believe that even thoughthe two institutions have different aims, they have similar social interests, andgreater mutual cooperation would therefore ensure better awareness and protectionin relation to these serious occupational diseases.
