Gli infortuni dovuti a cadute in piano, avvenuti nel corso del 1997, hanno rap-presentato il 4% del totale di tutti gli infortuni dei settori industria, artigianato e terziario. Per il 95% si è trattato di eventi di lieve entità senza postumi per-manenti, mentre non si è verificato alcun caso mortale. Le lesioni hanno interessato in prevalenza gli arti inferiori, ma quelle più gravi si sono verificate maggiormente a carico degli arti superiori. Nel comparto cera-mico le cadute in piano rappresentano un’eventualità 2,5 volte più frequente rispetto al complesso di tutte le lavorazioni, con danni permanenti 1,5 volte più frequenti. E’ anche interessante notare che, passando da Nord al Centro a Sud, gli infor-tuni del nostro tipo salgono dal 3,4%, al 4,8%, al 5,3% del totale, ad indicare una decrescente attenzione ai problemi della sicurezza.

During 1997 the accidents at work caused by falls on the floor were 4% of the whole accidents happened in Italy to the workers of industry, arts and craft, trade and other utilities. 95% of them did not cause permanent consequences or death. Injuries mainly interested the lower limbs, but most serious damages were loca-ted in the upper limbs. In the ceramic factories falls on the floor were 2.5 times more frequent than in the whole manufactories and permanent consequences were 1.5 times more fre-quent. Our data also show that falls on the floor increase in Italy from the North to the South, in particular they were in 1997 3.4% in the North, 4.8% in the Centre and 5.3% in the South. This fact exposes a decreasing attention to safety problems from the North to the South of the country.
